The Jandy 7784 is the air and solar temperature sensor kit, supplied as one kit covering both sensor positions.

What the sensors do

Solar heating only makes sense when the panels are actually warmer than the pool. A control works that out by reading temperature at more than one point, and the air and solar sensors are two of those points. When a sensor drifts or fails, the control keeps acting on the number it is given, so the symptom looks like bad logic rather than a bad part.
