Product details

The AquaStar SKZ216 is the 300 micron filter bag for the ZarStar skimmer and the ZarStar pre-filter. It turns the skimmer into a first stage of filtration rather than just a leaf trap.

Why a bag and not just a basket

A skimmer basket stops leaves and the larger material. Everything smaller carries on to the pump basket and then to the filter. The 300 micron bag catches that finer debris at the skimmer, which keeps the pump basket cleaner and takes load off the filter.

Servicing it

The bag comes out for emptying the same way a basket does. How often depends on the tree cover and the season, and a bag that is loading up quickly is a sign the pool is pulling in more fine debris than usual.

How fine does this bag filter?
It is a 300 micron bag, so it holds back debris well below what a plain skimmer basket catches.
Where does it go?
In the AquaStar ZarStar skimmer or in the ZarStar pre-filter. It is made for both.
What is the point of filtering at the skimmer?
It takes debris out of the water before it reaches the pump and filter baskets, so those stay cleaner and need attention less often.
Is this the same as the ZarStar skimmer basket?
No. The basket is a separate AquaStar part. This is the bag that provides the fine 300 micron filtration.
