Why the lid matters
A skimmer cover does two quiet jobs. It keeps large debris from dropping straight past the weir into the basket and on toward the pump, and it closes an open hole at the waterline. Sunlight is what usually finishes these lids: the plastic goes brittle over a few seasons, then it cracks the first time somebody steps near it.
