The Hayward CX225RE is the genuine replacement cartridge element for the StarClear C225 cartridge filter, with 25 square feet of filter area.

Why the fit matters

A cartridge filter only works if the water is forced through the pleats. An element that does not seat properly in the housing leaves a path around the outside, and dirty water takes it. That is the practical argument for a factory element: it holds the dimensions the housing was built to, so the filter performs the way it did when it was new.
