The Hayward SPB151 is the 1.5HP, 115V unit in the Hayward spa air blower range. It supplies the air that produces the bubble action in a spa or hot tub.
What it does
The air blower is often confused with the pump, but the two do different jobs. The pump moves water through the jets. The blower pushes air into the spa air channel, and that is what produces the column of bubbles across the footwell. When the blower fails, the water jets keep working and only the bubbles stop, which is usually how owners spot it.
Getting the right one
Hayward builds this blower in 1HP, 1.5HP and 2HP, and each size in both 115V and 230V. Those are not interchangeable. Read the label on the unit you are removing and match both the horsepower and the voltage. Fitting a 115V blower to a 230V supply, or the reverse, is the most common mistake on this replacement.
