Product details

The Hayward AX6000GA is the gearbox for the Phantom automatic pool cleaner, supplied complete with its cams, hoses and ties. It is the genuine Hayward assembly.

What the gearbox does

A suction cleaner has no motor of its own. The gearbox takes the water the pump pulls through the cleaner and turns it into the timed walking motion that drives it across the floor and up the walls. Everything about how the Phantom covers the pool depends on it.

The symptom

When the gearbox wears out, the cleaner still holds suction and the hose still fills, but the unit stops moving properly or sits in one place. That is worth checking before replacing a hose or blaming the pump.

The cams, hoses and ties come with the gearbox, so the small parts that wear alongside it are already in the box.
