Product details
The Raypak B-R406A-EP-C is a 399K BTU propane pool heater built to ASME, with digital IID controls, bronze headers and a copper heat exchanger. It carries Raypak part number 017386 and is rated for elevations from sea level to 2000 ft.
The ASME and bronze specification
Commercial pool codes commonly call for an ASME rated heater, and this is the ASME version of the Raypak 406A. The bronze headers are the other half of that specification: bronze is chosen over the standard header where the water chemistry is more demanding, which is most commercial and salt water installations.
Controls
Digital IID means an intermittent ignition device with digital controls. The burner lights when heat is called for instead of holding a pilot flame, and the setpoint and diagnostics live on the display rather than on a mechanical dial.
Before you order
Check three things: gas type, elevation and gas line capacity. This unit is propane, rated 0 to 2000 ft, and a 399K BTU appliance needs a gas supply sized for it. Installation belongs with a licensed gas fitter working to the Raypak manual and local code.

Is this natural gas or propane?
Propane. Raypak sets the gas type by model, so a natural gas installation needs the natural gas version instead.
What do bronze headers get me?
Bronze headers are specified in place of the standard header where the water is harder on the heater. They are a common choice on commercial and salt water pools.
