Why brushes wear out first
A robotic cleaner drives a pattern and scrubs as it goes. The brushes are the only part in constant contact with the pool surface, so they take the abrasion that everything else avoids. When the ribs flatten or split, the cleaner still completes its cycle but stops lifting the film that the filter is waiting to catch, and it is easy to blame the filter or the motor instead.
Gray or blue
This is the gray solid rib version. The same brush is also produced in an all blue pattern under a separate Polaris part number, so check which one is on your cleaner if you want to keep it matched.
Change both
The set contains two brushes for a reason. Replacing one and leaving a worn partner gives uneven scrubbing across the cleaner, so fit them as a pair.
