The Aquamoto EcoPixel 24 inch media filter ships with a 2 inch backwash valve and gives 3.01 square feet of filter area at a maximum flow of 59.7 gpm.
The tank
The vessel is built as a single seamless piece: an inner shell of polyester resin wound with fiberglass filament. There is no seam to open up under pressure cycling, and Aquamoto backs the tank for ten years, with one year on the other components.
Flow and the lateral design
The valve ports, the internal standpipe and the internals are all 2 inch, which keeps resistance low through the whole filter. Inside, the high density branched laterals spread water across the full width of the bed rather than pulling it through a few narrow paths. More of the media does the filtering, backwash clears the bed faster, and Aquamoto puts the backwash water saving at around 30 percent.
Suited to modern pumps
Low resistance is what a variable speed pump wants. Running at reduced RPM, a pump has less head to spare, and a filter that gives it back translates into real turnover at a lower wattage. Media is not included, and the two sources on file give different figures for how much the tank takes, so confirm the amount before you order bags.
