What it does
Inside a DE filter, the grids stand in a frame and drain into a manifold. Filtered water collects there and leaves the tank through the outlet. If the manifold cracks, splits at a port or warps, the seal to the grids is lost, water bypasses the media, and DE powder shows up in the pool.
