This is the lower tank half for the 21 inch Sta-Rite System 3 filter, part number 24850-0102S. It is the bottom shell of the filter body, the piece that holds the internals and carries the plumbing connections.

Which filters it fits

Sta-Rite used the same 21 inch tank across several System 3 models, so this half serves the modular SMD Series D.E. filter, the SD Series D.E. filter model S7D75, and the SS-Series sand filters S7S50 and S8S70. Confirm your model tag before ordering, since System 3 filters were also built in larger tank sizes.

When you need one

A tank half is bought when the shell itself has failed: a crack, a split at the clamp band, or a leak that keeps coming back after a new o-ring and a careful clamp. Once the tank is compromised, no seal will hold it, and the shell has to be replaced.

What carries over

The internals stay with your filter. Grids, the manifold, the drain plug and the plumbing all move into the new half. The tank o-ring that seals the two halves together is a separate item, and fitting a fresh one is standard practice any time the filter is split open.

Is this the whole tank?
No. It is the lower half only. The upper half, the clamp and the tank o-ring are separate items.
Does a tank o-ring come with it?
No. The 21 inch System 3 tank o-ring is ordered separately, and it is worth fitting a new one whenever the tank is opened.
