Product details
The Pentair 471603 is the flame sensor for MiniMax NT STD pool and spa heaters in the 200, 250, 300 and 400 sizes. It is the genuine Pentair replacement part.
What the sensor does
When the heater calls for heat, the control opens the gas and tries to light the burner. The flame sensor is what tells it whether that worked. If no flame signal comes back within the trial period, the control closes the gas and locks out. That safety logic is also why a sensor that has sooted up, corroded or cracked produces the classic symptom of a heater that fires for a few seconds and then quits.
Before you order
Confirm the model designation on the heater rating plate. This part is listed for the MiniMax NT STD, and the MiniMax range includes other versions with different parts. Once the sensor is in, it is worth checking the ground path as well, since flame sensing depends on a clean ground and a poor one mimics a failed sensor.
