The Pentair 473605 is the genuine pressure switch listed for MiniMax CH heaters in the 150 through 400 range and MiniMax AG heaters 75, 100 and 100SC.
What it is there for
The pressure switch is a safety interlock. It watches water pressure inside the heater and holds the ignition sequence until that pressure is high enough to prove water is actually moving. A heater that fires with no flow through it damages itself quickly, and this small switch is what prevents that.
Diagnosing before you replace
A heater that will not fire often points here, but the switch is sometimes reporting the truth. Low flow from a dirty filter, a partly closed valve, a packed skimmer or pump basket, or a tired pump will keep real pressure below the point where the switch closes. Restore flow first. If the pump is moving water properly and the switch still will not make, replace the switch.

What does the pressure switch do?
It senses water pressure in the heater and closes only when there is enough of it. Until it closes, the heater will not fire. That is the interlock that keeps the heater from running without water moving through it.

My heater will not fire. Is it the pressure switch?
It is a common cause, but check flow first: a dirty filter, a closed valve, a clogged basket or a weak pump can leave real pressure too low to close the switch. If flow is good and the switch still will not close, the switch is the suspect.
Can I jumper the switch to test it?
A brief jumper is a diagnostic step for a technician with water flowing and eyes on the heater. It is never a repair. Left in place it removes the protection that stops the heater firing dry.
