The Pentair 471566Z is the thermister probe used across the MiniMax heater range and on the ThermaFlo titanium heat pump. It is the genuine Pentair part.
What it does
The probe is the heater control board only source of water temperature. Everything the heater decides, when to fire, when to satisfy the set point, whether to trip, follows from what this probe reports. When it drifts, the symptoms look like control faults: short cycling, overshooting the set temperature, or a heater that will not fire on a cold pool.
Fitment
Pentair lists this probe against a long list of models, and the source gives two slightly different versions of that list. One names the Thermal Flo heat pump along with MiniMax CH, NT STD, ST STD, LN and TSI heaters with 6800 or DDTC controls. The other names MiniMax models 150 through 400 in NX STD, NT TSI and NT LN forms plus the ThermaFlo titanium heat pump. Both are reproduced in the specifications above, so check your model plate against them before ordering.

Which heaters does this probe fit?
The source lists two fitment statements. One reads Thermal Flo Heat Pump and MiniMax CH, NT STD with 6800, ST STD with DDTC, LN with 6800, LN with DDTC, TSI with 6800 and TSI with DDTC Heaters. Does it cover both 6800 and DDTC controls?
Yes. The fitment list names both the 6800 and the DDTC control versions.
What does the probe do?
It reports water temperature to the control board. That reading is what decides when the heater fires, when it stops and whether it trips on a limit.
My heater short cycles or overshoots the set temperature. Could this be it?
A probe that has drifted out of range gives the board a false reading, and short cycling or overshoot is the usual result. It is a cheap part to rule out before condemning a board.
