Zodiac R0524900 is the engine assembly for the Baracuda MX6 and MX8 suction side pool cleaners. It is the genuine Zodiac part, supplied complete.
What the engine does
The engine is the working core of an MX cleaner. Everything else on the machine, the hoses, the wheels, the direction control, feeds into it or hangs off it. When an MX slows down, stalls in a corner or stops walking altogether while suction and hoses check out fine, the engine is where the fault usually sits.
Doing the job once
Because the cleaner has to come apart to reach the engine, it is worth having the smaller wear parts on hand at the same time. Zodiac sells the wheel and engine bearing separately, and an MX8 tune-up kit covers the routine items. Fitting them together saves a second strip down a month later.
