Product details

The Zodiac R0526800 is the genuine hose float for the Baracuda MX6 and MX8 suction pool cleaners. It is the factory part, made for the hose it clips onto.

Why the float is there

The hose float lifts a length of hose off the pool floor. With the hose riding up in the water, the cleaner pulls a light, free line behind it. Let the hose sink and everything changes: it drags on the floor, catches on steps and corners, and the cleaner spends its run fighting the hose rather than covering the pool.

What a missing float looks like

The usual complaints are a cleaner that keeps working the same stretch of floor, a hose that tangles on itself, and scuff marks where the hose has been dragging on plaster or vinyl. Before condemning the cleaner, check that every float is in place and still buoyant. A waterlogged or missing float is a cheap fix for what looks like a failed cleaner.

What does the hose float actually do?
It lifts part of the hose off the pool floor. That stops the hose dragging behind the cleaner, which is what causes tangles, restricted movement and scuffed surfaces.
