The Zodiac R0526300 is the cover latch for the Baracuda MX8 and Zodiac MX8 Elite suction side pool cleaners. It is the genuine OEM part.
What it does
The latch holds the MX8 top cover clamped down over the drive assembly. You release it every time you open the cleaner to check the internals, and that repeated flexing is what eventually cracks it.
The symptom
A cover that will not stay closed, or that lifts and rattles while the cleaner is running. Once the cover is loose, grit works into the drive where it does not belong, so a broken latch is worth fixing straight away rather than taping the cover shut.
The latch is sold on its own, so there is no need to buy a complete cover for a broken catch.
