Product details

The Pentair ETi 400 is a 400,000 BTU natural gas pool and spa heater rated at 96% thermal efficiency. This is the ASME version, part 461113, the one specified for commercial pools and for any job where the inspector wants a code stamped heat exchanger.

The TitanTough heat exchanger

Instead of a copper exchanger, the ETi 400 uses a direct fire titanium exchanger that Pentair calls TitanTough. Titanium shrugs off the water chemistry that shortens the life of copper, and firing the burner directly against it is how the heater reaches its efficiency figure. Pentair describes it as the toughest exchanger it has built.

Fast, quiet heat

At 400K BTU the ETi 400 is the largest size in the line, so it reaches the set temperature quickly on a large pool and can bring a spa up without a long wait. It is designed to run quietly on the pad and to install without special fuss.

How efficient is it?
Pentair rates the ETi 400 at 96% thermal efficiency, which is why it is sold as a high efficiency heater rather than a standard one. Most of the fuel cost goes into heating the water.
What does the ASME designation mean?
The heat exchanger is built and stamped to the ASME code. That is the version usually required for commercial pools and for residential jobs where the local inspector asks for it.
Why titanium?
Titanium stands up to pool water chemistry better than copper, and Pentair fires the burner directly against it in the TitanTough design. It is the reason Pentair expects years of service from this exchanger.
What electrical service does it need?
It runs on 120 or 240 volt, 60 Hz service. Gas supply is natural gas; this part number is not the propane unit.
