Product details

The Pentair MasterTemp 460771 is a natural gas pool heater in the 250K class, built to the ASME specification, with electronic ignition, digital temperature control and Low NOx emissions. Its rating falls in the 200,000 to 250,000 BTU band and it is listed for in ground residential pools.

Controls and ignition

Ignition is electronic, an IID system rather than a standing pilot, so there is no continuously burning flame waiting for a call for heat. Temperature is set and read at a digital control panel, and the specification lists a copper heat exchanger.

The ASME caveat, read this before ordering

Pentair ASME model heaters do not come with tubes and unions as standard equipment, and those parts are no longer available to purchase. That means this heater is only the right choice if you already have the hookups from a previous Pentair ASME heater and you are sure they will fit. If you are not sure, resolve that before the heater ships, because the pieces cannot be bought after the fact.

Does this heater come with tubes and unions?
No. Pentair ASME model heaters are not supplied with tubes and unions as standard equipment, and those pieces are no longer available to buy. Order this heater only if you are confident the hookups from your previous Pentair ASME heater will fit.
What fuel and output is it?
Natural gas, rated in the 200,000 to 250,000 BTU band and sold as the MasterTemp 250K.
What heat exchanger does it have?
The specification for 460771 lists a copper heat exchanger. Pentair also builds a heavy duty MasterTemp with a cupro nickel exchanger for low pH, high flow or heavy use pools, and that is a different model.
How does it ship?
By freight. A complete gas pool heater is well beyond parcel size and weight, so plan for a curbside delivery.
