The Raypak P-R406A-EP-X is a 399K BTU propane heater for large residential or commercial pools and spas, fitted with a cupro-nickel heat exchanger and digital intermittent ignition. It is the configuration for elevations from sea level to 2,000 ft.

Cupro-nickel exchanger

Cupro-nickel tubing lasts longer than plain copper when water chemistry is aggressive or drifts out of range, so it is the specification to choose when the heater is expected to give long service on a heavily used pool.

Digital IID

There is no standing pilot. The digital control lights the burner when the pool or spa calls for heat and holds the setpoint precisely, which matters most on a spa.
