The Raypak P-R406A-EP-X is a 399K BTU propane heater for large residential or commercial pools and spas, fitted with a cupro-nickel heat exchanger and digital intermittent ignition. It is the configuration for elevations from sea level to 2,000 ft.

Cupro-nickel exchanger

Cupro-nickel tubing lasts longer than plain copper when water chemistry is aggressive or drifts out of range, so it is the specification to choose when the heater is expected to give long service on a heavily used pool.

Digital IID

There is no standing pilot. The digital control lights the burner when the pool or spa calls for heat and holds the setpoint precisely, which matters most on a spa.

Before you order

Is this propane or natural gas?

Propane. The natural gas 406A is a separate model, so confirm your fuel before ordering.

Why cupro-nickel instead of copper?

Cupro-nickel tubing holds up longer than plain copper when water chemistry drifts or is aggressive, which makes it the safer choice for a heater expected to last on a busy pool.

What elevation is it rated for?

0 to 2,000 ft above sea level. Sites above that need a high altitude version.

How does it ship?

By freight on a pallet. Plan for someone to be on site to receive it and inspect for damage before signing.
