The Hayward W3H250FDP is the 250,000 BTU propane model of the Universal H-Series, a low NOx pool and spa heater with a cupro nickel heat exchanger and hot surface ignition. It is the Open Line number that Hayward approves for sale online and in stores.

What it offers

Hayward rates this heater at 250,000 BTU/hr input, with 210,000 BTU/hr output at 84 percent thermal efficiency, and designs the hydraulics to cut circulation pump run time. The low NOx version meets the South Coast AQMD Rule 1146.2 standard where it applies.

Installation details

The heater runs on 120 or 240 V, single phase, 60 Hz, on a 5.5 A circuit with a 15 A maximum breaker. Water connections are 2 in. x 2-1/2 in. CPVC unions. It measures 24 in. high, 25 in. wide and 29.5 in. long, and weighs 165 lb. On propane it needs no modification to 2,000 ft by Table 1 of Hayward's manual. The plate that takes it to 7,700 ft comes with the heater, and Hayward sells kit FDXLHAK1930 for installations up to 10,100 ft.
