The Raypak Digital 399K BTU propane heater, part 009227, model P-R406A-EP-C, heats in-ground pools and spas with a copper fin tube heat exchanger and digital electronic ignition. It is built for LP gas at elevations from sea level to 2,000 ft.
Built for the pad
The cabinet is corrosion resistant galvanized metal in a low profile shape, designed to stand outdoors through the seasons. Inside, the copper fin tube exchanger moves heat into the water quickly, and the digital control lights the burner on demand instead of holding a standing pilot.
Before you order
Confirm propane service, an elevation under 2,000 ft and line power at the heater location. For natural gas, order the 009219 (P-R406A-EN-C) instead. The heater ships by freight; plan for curbside delivery and a helper to move it to the pad.

Is Raypak 009227 natural gas or propane?
Propane. Raypak builds the 406A for one fuel, and sells the natural gas heater as a separate part number.
What elevation is Raypak 009227 rated for?
0 to 2,000 ft, by Raypak's catalog. Raypak sells the same heater jetted for three bands: #50 for 0 to 2,000 ft, #51 for 2,000 to 6,000 and #52 for 6,000 to 9,000, each under its own part number.
What do the messages on the Raypak 009227 display mean?
The display names the switch that opened. Water Sw Open is the water pressure switch, Hi Limit 1 or 2 a high limit, Rollout Sw Open the flame rollout switch, and Ignition Lockout a pilot or main burner that did not light in time. Our pool heater error code guide lists them all and what to check.
