The Pentair MasterTemp 460775 is the 400,000 BTU natural gas commercial pool heater in ASME configuration, with electronic ignition, Low NOx operation and a digital temperature control.

Commercial output

At 400,000 BTU this is full commercial capacity, sized for large volumes of water and for the short recovery times a commercial schedule demands. The heat exchanger on this model is listed as copper. Electronic ignition removes the standing pilot, so the heater is not burning gas between cycles.

Read this before you order

ASME model MasterTemp heaters do not come with tubes and unions, and those parts are no longer available to buy separately. That makes this the right heater only if you are replacing a previous Pentair ASME unit and already have the hookups in place. If you are not certain, check what is on the pad before ordering.

Installation

A gas heater of this size needs a correctly sized gas line, proper venting and a qualified installer. Confirm those before the heater arrives, since it ships by freight.

What is different about the ASME MasterTemp 400, 460775?
It is the ASME certified version of the 400,000 BTU heater, built with bronze headers and a copper heat exchanger. Pentair makes a heavy duty ASME version with a cupronickel exchanger under another part number. Whether a pool needs an ASME heater is for the local code and the inspector to say.
Does the ASME MasterTemp 400, 460775, come with tubes and unions?
No. Pentair ASME model heaters are not supplied with tubes and unions as standard equipment, and those pieces are no longer available to buy. Order this heater only if you are confident the hookups from your previous Pentair ASME heater can be reused.
Is 460775 natural gas or propane?

What do the ERR codes on an ASME MasterTemp 400 mean?
Each one names the safety device that opened. ERR PS is the water pressure switch, which means no water is flowing through the heater. ERR HLS is the high limit switch, ERR AFS the air flow switch, ERR IGN a failed ignition and ERR SFS a stack flue temperature above 480 degrees F.
