Ignition controls are specific to the fuel the heater burns. This one is the propane part. Read the gas type off the heater rating plate before ordering, and match the number printed on the control you are pulling out.
What the lockout does
When the heater calls for heat, the control runs the ignition sequence and looks for proof of flame. If it does not get it, it locks the heater out rather than repeating the attempt, which is why a failing control usually shows up as a heater that clicks, tries and then shuts down with no heat.
