The Polaris C83 turbine shaft tubes are the genuine replacement tubes for the Polaris 280 and Polaris 180 pressure side pool cleaners. The same part is printed as C-83 in some parts lists, and it is one part number either way.
Where they sit
The turbine is what turns water pressure into wheel drive on a 280 or a 180, and it passes that motion along through the drive shaft assembly, part C-86. These tubes are part of that path. They are metal, and like everything in the drivetrain they wear with hours in the pool.
When to replace them
Poor or inconsistent drive on a cleaner that is otherwise getting good water flow points at the turbine and the drive shaft. If you have the cleaner opened up for that work, the shaft tubes are an inexpensive part to renew while everything is already apart.
