The Pentair 355122 is the 1 horsepower impeller assembly for Dynamo pool pumps, supplied as a genuine Pentair part.
What the impeller does
The impeller is the spinning part that actually moves the water. It is matched to the motor it sits behind, which is why the horsepower rating on the part matters as much as the pump model. As it wears, the vanes thin out and the edges chip, and the pump moves less water each season without ever sounding different.
How to tell it is the impeller
Weak return flow with a clean basket, clean skimmer and a motor that still runs at full speed points at the impeller. Sometimes it is simply packed with debris and cleans out, but a worn one has to be replaced. Doing that on a healthy motor costs a fraction of a new pump, and the shaft seal should be changed at the same time since the pump is already apart.
