The Pentair 354548 is the strainer basket with handle for the Pentair Dynamo pump. It is the genuine part, shaped to the Dynamo strainer pot.
What it does
Everything the skimmer misses ends up here. The basket catches leaves, twigs and grit before the water reaches the impeller, which is why running a pump without one, or with a cracked one, is a good way to clog or damage the wet end.
When to change it
Baskets are consumable. Sun, chlorine and repeated handling make the plastic brittle, and eventually a season of heavy leaves cracks a wall or collapses the base. A basket that has split lets debris through and can also restrict suction enough that the pump struggles to hold prime. Replacing it is a one minute job with the pump off and the lid removed.
