Product details

The Hayward CAX-20206 is the float style flow monitoring sensor used with CAT 1000 commercial automated controller monitors. It is the genuine Hayward part.

Why flow matters to a controller

An automated controller reads pH and sanitizer from probes sitting in a sample line. Those readings only mean anything while water is moving past them. The flow sensor is the interlock: no flow, no dosing. Without it a controller can keep feeding acid or chlorine into a line that is not circulating, which is both a chemistry problem and a safety problem on a commercial pool.

Float style

This is the float version of the sensor, so match it to what the controller was built for. A stuck or failed float typically shows up as a no flow alarm with the pump plainly running, or as dosing that never stops when it should.

Which controller does this sensor fit?

What is a float style sensor?
It senses flow with a float rather than a paddle. Match the style your controller was built for, because the two are not interchangeable.
Why does the controller need a flow sensor at all?
Chemical controllers only read pH and sanitizer accurately when water is moving past the probes. The flow sensor is what stops the controller dosing into a stagnant line.
My CAT is showing a no flow condition with the pump running. Is this it?
A failed or stuck float sensor is a common cause of a false no flow. Check the sensor before assuming the controller itself has failed.
