What the relay board does

An IntelliFlo3 is a motor and a drive in one housing. The drive electronics decide when the pump starts, what speed it holds, and how it responds to the schedule or to a controller. The relay board sits inside that stack and handles the switching. When it fails the symptoms look like a dead pump or one that will not hold a commanded speed, even though the motor itself is fine.

A repair worth making

Replacing a board is a fraction of the cost of a new variable speed pump, and on an otherwise sound IntelliFlo3 it is usually the right call. Because the work is inside a live drive, isolate the pump at the breaker and follow Pentair service procedure, or have a qualified technician handle it.
