What the relay does
An automation panel is a set of low voltage decisions driving high voltage loads. The relay is what bridges the two: the controller calls for the pump, the heater or the lights, and the relay physically closes the contacts that power them. Because it is mechanical, it is the part of the panel that wears. Contacts pit, coils fail, and one circuit stops responding while everything else in the system keeps working.
