Raypak Heat Exchanger Copper Tube Bundle for 266A and 267A, 017975F

The Raypak 017975F is the copper tube bundle heat exchanger for the 266A and 267A pool heaters. It is the genuine Raypak part, supplied as a complete bundle.

What the bundle does

The tube bundle is the finned copper core that sits above the burner. Gas fires underneath it and pool water runs through the tubes, and that is where every BTU the heater produces gets handed to the water. Nothing else in the heater matters if the bundle is compromised.

Diagnosing a failed bundle

Water pooling in the burner tray, or running out of the bottom of the cabinet, when the headers and unions are dry, means the bundle itself has corroded through. It usually announces itself with rust and soot in the burner area first, from water dripping onto hot metal.

Fix the cause too

Copper does not fail on its own. Low pH, high sanitizer levels, unbalanced water and low flow rates are what eat a bundle from the inside and overheat it from the outside. Putting a new bundle into a heater without addressing the water chemistry or the flow rate that killed the first one buys a few seasons at most.
