Hayward lists this gear for the vinyl versions of these cleaners. The concrete, gunite and desert models are built with their own gear set and the parts are not interchangeable, so confirm which version of the cleaner you have before you order.
What it does and how it fails
The intermediate gear sits in the middle of the drive train, passing turbine power through to the wheel gears. It sees the full load every second the cleaner is running. When its teeth chip or round off it slips instead of driving, and the cleaner behaves as if it has lost power: the turbine still spins, but the machine crawls, stalls in a corner or stops following its pattern. Since every gear in the box has done the same hours, inspect the rest of them while it is open.
