The Jandy 7307 is the large body check valve in the Jandy Pro Series line, made from PVC with 180 degree straight through flow and slip sockets sized for 2-1/2 inch and 3 inch pipe.
What a check valve does
It lets water move one way and blocks it going the other. On a pool pad that keeps the pump primed when the system shuts down, stops the filter draining back into the pool, and prevents chemicals from a feeder or the hot water in a heater from tracking backwards through the plumbing. On systems with a solar array or a booster pump the valve is what keeps the water column where it should be.
Sizing and fitting
Both ends are slip, so the valve solvent welds into the pipe. It is the larger of the Jandy check valves, covering 2-1/2 inch and 3 inch plumbing, which is the size range you see on bigger residential pads and light commercial work.
Serviceable in place
Jandy sells the cover with flapper and the cover o-ring as separate parts for this valve. That means a worn flapper or a leaking cover seal is a top down repair, not a reason to cut the body out of the pipe.
