What it does
The bumper is the ring of material that takes every contact the cleaner makes. When it hits a wall, a step or a light niche, the bumper absorbs the impact and lets the cleaner deflect and carry on. It protects the pool surface and the cleaner body at the same time.
When to replace it
Bumpers wear because they are supposed to. Once yours is torn, flattened or missing pieces, the cleaner starts scuffing the pool and hanging up in corners instead of turning away cleanly. Fitting a new assembly restores that behavior.
