Product details

Waterway 672-0420 is a plumbing manifold with 1-1/2 inch ends and sixteen 3/8 inch smooth barb ports. One end is a 1-1/2 inch slip socket, the other a 1-1/2 inch spigot.

What it is for

A manifold takes one trunk line and splits it into a bank of small flexible feeds. The alternative, a chain of individual tees and reducers, needs far more room, far more glue joints and gives every one of those joints a chance to leak. A single molded body does the same job in a fraction of the space.

Notes on fitting

The 1-1/2 inch ends are solvent weld, made up with standard PVC primer and cement. Flexible tubing pushes onto the 3/8 inch barbs and is normally clamped. Any port you do not use has to be plugged: an open barb is just a hole once the system is under pressure. Our facts for this item carry the part number, the sizes and the port count and nothing beyond that, so check it against your own layout before ordering.

Questions and answers

What people ask about this product, answered by our pool techs.

How many ports does it have?
Sixteen, each a 3/8 inch smooth barb.
What is the difference between S and Spg?
S is a slip socket, which the pipe goes into. Spg is a spigot, which is sized like pipe and goes into a fitting. This manifold has one of each.
How do the small lines connect?
The 3/8 inch ports are smooth barbs, so flexible tubing pushes on and is normally secured with a clamp.
Do I have to use all sixteen ports?
Any port not in use has to be plugged or capped. An open barb on a pressurized manifold will simply blow water.
