The Pentair 471204 is the natural gas IID pilot assembly for MiniMax Commercial, MiniMax Plus and PowerMax pool heaters. It is the genuine Pentair part and it ships with the ignition wire.

What it does

On an intermittent ignition device heater the pilot assembly is where ignition happens. It carries the spark that lights the pilot and the sensing that tells the control the flame is present. When it fouls, corrodes or fails, the heater goes through the motions and never lights, or it lights and then drops out on flame loss.

Match the fuel. This is the natural gas assembly, and the propane version is a separate Pentair part number. Confirm your heater is one of the MiniMax Commercial, MiniMax Plus or PowerMax models, and note that the ignition wire is already included so you do not need to buy it separately.

No. This is the natural gas pilot assembly. Pentair sells a separate propane version, so order by the fuel your heater is set up for.

My heater sparks but never lights. Is this the part?

It is a likely candidate. On an IID system the pilot assembly carries the spark and the flame sense, so a fouled or failed assembly leaves the heater trying and failing to light. Check the gas supply as well before you order.
