Product details

The Century SQ1102 is a full rated square flange pool pump motor, 1 HP output at 3450 rpm with a 1.65 service factor, wired for either 115 or 230 volts on a 48Y frame.

Build

It uses sealed ball bearings at both ends and a 303 stainless steel shaft, in a capacitor start, open dripproof design with automatic thermal protection. The frame is rolled steel with a round mount, and the motor is built to the UL 1081 design and CSA certified. Rated efficiency is 55.2 percent and the duty rating is continuous.

Fitting

The SQ1102 is listed for the Sta-Rite Dura-Glas and Max-E-Glas I and II and for the Sta-Rite Max-E-Pro. Key dimensions are an overall length of 13.82 in, a frame length of 9.94 in, a shaft diameter of 0.625 in with a 0.906 in extension and a 1/2 in threaded end, and the rotation is counterclockwise seen from the pump end.

Before you order

Compare the nameplate on your old motor for horsepower, service factor, frame and shaft, since the same wet end was sold behind several motor ratings. While the pump is apart, replace the shaft seal. A leaking seal is what drowns most pool motors, and it is the cheapest part of the job.

What does full rated mean?
The motor makes its rated 1 HP output and has a 1.65 service factor on top of that, rather than borrowing the service factor to reach the rating the way an uprated motor does.
Will it run on 115 or 230 volts?
Both. It is a dual voltage motor, drawing 9.0 amps at 230V and 18.0 amps at 115V. Wire it for the supply you have.
Which pumps does it fit?
It is listed for Sta-Rite Dura-Glas and Max-E-Glas I and II, and for the Sta-Rite Max-E-Pro.
Should I replace the seal at the same time?
Yes. The shaft seal is the part that failed and flooded most motors, and it is a few dollars while the pump is already apart. Rebuild kits for these pumps include it.
