Zodiac R0525800 is the lower engine housing for the Baracuda MX6 and MX8 suction side pool cleaners. It is the genuine Zodiac part, and the same housing serves both models.
What it does
The engine is what turns the flow of water through the cleaner into movement across the pool. The lower housing is the half that carries and locates those internals. Everything inside depends on being held square, so the housing is doing structural work even though there is nothing moving about it.
When to replace it
Cracks are the reason. They come from impact, from age, or from a cleaner that has been stood on or dropped on the deck. Once the housing is split, the engine moves inside it and the cleaner will crawl badly or stop driving altogether. This is the lower half only, so check which piece has failed before ordering.

Is this the upper or the lower housing?
