The Zodiac R0526000 is the wheel for the Baracuda MX6 and MX8 suction cleaners, and it appears in the MX8 Elite parts diagram as well. It is the genuine Zodiac part.
What it does
An MX cleaner has no drive motor. It converts the suction from your pump into mechanical movement and puts that down through its wheels. Everything the cleaner does, covering the floor, working into corners, climbing the wall, depends on those wheels having grip and turning freely.
The symptoms
Worn wheels rarely announce themselves. The cleaner keeps running, but it wanders instead of tracking, gets stuck in the same corner, or slides back down the wall it used to climb. Owners often chase hose length and pump speed before turning the machine over and finding a wheel worn flat or bound on its axle.
Checking yours
Turn the cleaner upside down and spin each wheel by hand. Any that drag, catch or wobble are done. Because they all cover the same ground, wheels tend to wear at similar rates, so it is worth looking at the whole set rather than replacing one and putting the machine back in the water.
