The Jandy R0462700 is the tank top o-ring for the Jandy CS Series cartridge filter. It is the genuine Jandy part, and it is the seal between the filter lid and the tank body.
What it does
The lid clamps down onto the tank and this ring is what makes the joint watertight. It carries the full working pressure of the filter, and it lives through heat, chlorine and repeated compression. Over time it hardens, flattens into a permanent set and stops filling its groove, and that is when the seam starts to weep.
Fitting
Wipe the groove and the sealing face clean before the new ring goes in, and put a thin coat of silicone o-ring lubricant on it. That helps it seat evenly, keeps it from pinching as the lid comes down, and makes the next teardown easier. The natural time to do this is at a cartridge cleaning, when the tank is open anyway.
