Product details
The Pentair 42001-0060S is the water pressure switch for the MasterTemp heater and the ETi 400 High Efficiency heater. It is part of the heater water system, the group of components on the water side of the heater.
What it does
The pressure switch is a safety. It senses that water is actually moving through the heat exchanger and closes to allow the heater to fire. If it does not close, the heater will not light, which is exactly the behavior you want when flow is low or absent.
The fault it causes
Because it is a gatekeeper, a failed pressure switch presents as a heater that simply will not come on. The pump runs, the filter is clean, the thermostat is calling, and nothing happens. Once flow has been ruled out, the switch is one of the first parts to test.
A note on branding
This part appears in the source data under both the Pentair and Sta-Rite names. The number that matters is 42001-0060S.
