The Pentair 474200 is the basic manifold kit for the MasterTemp and Max-E-Therm family of pool and spa heaters. It is the genuine Pentair part.
What the manifold is
The manifold is the header on the water side of the heater. Pool water enters through it, passes across the heat exchanger and leaves through it, which makes it one of the hardest working parts in the whole unit and one of the few that sees both full system pressure and the heat of the exchanger.
Why it gets replaced
Years of thermal cycling and unbalanced water chemistry take their toll. A manifold that has cracked or corroded leaks at the pad, and no amount of tightening brings it back. This kit is the factory replacement for that job.
