Raypak 005198 is the genuine thermostat lock box, the poolstat cover and lock, for Raypak model 185, 265, 335 and 405 pool heaters.
What it is for
The poolstat is the temperature control on the heater, and on any pool where people other than the owner can reach the equipment, it gets moved. The lock box fits over the control and locks, so the setting stays where it was put. It also gives the control some physical protection from weather and from being knocked at the equipment pad.
Fitting
It is a direct replacement for the original cover on those models, so a missing or broken lock box is a straight swap. Confirm your heater model against the list before ordering, because Raypak uses different covers across its heater ranges.
