The Hayward SP1425S is an adjustable floor inlet fitting in white. It sits on the return side of the circulation loop, where filtered water comes back into the pool, and it can be aimed rather than fixed.
Why aim a return
Where the return water points decides how the pool turns over. Direct it well and the whole body of water moves, so chemicals spread evenly and debris drifts toward the skimmer. Direct it badly and you get dead corners that stay cloudy no matter how long the pump runs. An adjustable fitting lets you set that instead of living with it.
