Product details
The Waterway 400-4000 is a 1-1/2 inch union assembly with a slip socket on each side. Both halves solvent weld onto standard 1-1/2 inch pipe, and the nut in the middle joins them.
Why a union earns its place
Plumbing that is glued end to end has to be cut apart every time a pump, filter or heater comes off the pad. A union puts a deliberate break in the run, held by a nut you can loosen by hand, so the same repair takes minutes and costs nothing in pipe.
Fitting
This is the slip version, so neither end is threaded. Dry fit the pipe first, then solvent weld each half in the usual way and hand tighten the nut. Do not put a wrench on it.
