Product details

The Hydroquip 12-0102-K is a 4 kW Incoloy heater element rated for 240 V, supplied with its mounting hardware. It is the replacement element for a spa heater assembly rather than a complete heater.

Why elements fail

The element is the part of a spa heater doing the actual work, and it lives in hot, chemically active water. Scale builds on it, corrosion works at it, and eventually it either opens circuit or shorts to the housing and trips the breaker. The housing, the unions and the sensors around it usually outlast several elements.

Before you order

Match the rating to what came out. This element is 240 V and 4 kW, which is the common residential spa figure, but heater assemblies are also built in other ratings and fitting the wrong one gives you either a heater that never reaches temperature or one that overdraws the circuit.

What is the rating?

Why Incoloy rather than stainless?
Incoloy holds up better against the chemistry and the temperature swings inside a spa heater, which is why it is the standard element material for this duty.
Can I replace just the element?
That is exactly what this part is for. If the heater housing, sensors and unions are sound, replacing the element rebuilds the heater without buying a complete assembly.
