The Hydro-Quip BCS-55 series is a packaged equipment system for baptismal pools. This is the BHS-55-3W, with a 5.5kW heater on 240 volt three wire service.

What the package covers

Rather than assembling a heater, a control and safety devices separately, the BCS-55 arrives as one unit. It includes a high limit and a pressure switch, an air switch for control, a pump receptacle and a tailpiece connection. Total draw is 23 amps at 50 or 60 Hz.

Air switch control

An air switch operates the system through a column of air rather than a wire, which keeps line voltage away from the person pressing the button. That is the normal approach around water and it is why these packages are built this way.
