What a pressure switch does
A pressure switch watches water pressure and makes or breaks an electrical circuit accordingly. Only when there is pressure in the line does the switch close and let the equipment it protects run. When pressure drops away, the switch opens again. That is what keeps things from firing up dry.
When to replace it
