Product details
The Pentair T40BW is the standard inground version of the automatic water filler, fitted with the side mounted float valve and a white deck lid. It sits in the deck and holds the pool at the level you set.
Mechanical, not electronic
There is no controller, no sensor and no power feed. A float rides on the water and opens the valve as the level drops. That is the whole mechanism, and it is why these fillers tend to outlast electronic level controls with far less attention.
What it prevents
Two problems, in both directions. A pool that falls below the skimmer starves the pump, which loses prime and can run dry. A hose left on to fix that wastes water and soaks the landscaping around the deck. The filler handles both by holding one level and closing off at it.
Model and valve
This is the standard inground model. Vanishing edge pools use a different Pentair filler. The standard body can be fitted with either the side mounted valve, as supplied here, or a Fluidmaster valve ordered separately.
