Product details

The CMP 25559-114-000 is a 1 inch Aussie Insider in black with a 0.5 inch eye opening. It is the genuine Custom Molded Products part.

What the eye size does

The insider is what turns pump flow into a directed stream. A 0.5 inch eye is on the narrow side, which raises the velocity of the water leaving the fitting and pushes surface debris toward the skimmer. Because the body is self-aligning, you can rotate the eye after installation and aim that stream at whichever corner of the pool turns over slowest.

When to replace one

Insiders go brittle and crack with years of sun and chemistry, and a cracked one loses the aim you set. Swapping it is a quick job that does not disturb the return fitting plumbed into the wall.

What does self-aligning mean here?
The eye swivels inside the body, so once it is fitted you can point the return stream at the part of the pool that circulates worst.

0.5 inch. A smaller eye opening throws a faster, longer stream than a wide one at the same pump flow.

It is the Aussie Insider that seats into the return. The fitting body plumbed into the wall is separate.
